We’re doing it. We are finally doing a “big trip” with our 3-year-old. I’m going to [attempt to] document the planning and the actual trip here, similar to our Asheville, North Carolina trip a couple years ago (part 1 and part 2). We’ll be going to the Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos. This article will discuss booking the Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos and what it means to be traveling there for us with a toddler.

The past several years I’ve been plagued by a recurring problem. My attention is split between 50 different things at one time. My path forward is split by an infinite amount of forks in the road. Each one twists and turns towards an endgame that I haven’t defined.

Today marks the end of the busy season. I am literally the gif of that kid walking in the house, dropping his backpack, and collapsing on the floor.
Thursday April 21, 2022 // Past Bedtime
The last international trip I went on was in November 2018. As a self-proclaimed jet setter, this is torture. Having a baby then a global pandemic will do that to you though. It’s been three and a half years without a trip even out of my time zone.
This has had me thinking a lot about travel. Darn near everyday I’m lost in a daydream. Heck, even my dreams are often about travel these days. It’s a scratch I need to itch. But this scratch is in that one spot on your back that no human can possibly ever reach.
2022 will be another year of non-international and only Eastern time zone travel. Our eyes are trained on 2023 and with any luck, making a trip happen. When and where… that’s a different question.
With all this travel on the brain and no trip on the horizon to plan for, why not venture down memory lane?
Monday March 7, 2022 // Past Bedtime
We’re roughly a week shy from the two year anniversary of the day life got turned upside down for virtually everyone. Two years ago my little guy was 9 months old. He had just started crawling. Actually, he was doing this thing where he’d basically butterfly stroke forward rather than a traditional crawl. Today, he’s a (mostly) talking, leaping, jumping, iPhone-using, amazing tiny human.
Moments ago I was doing the usual late evening scroll through the socials and was reading some thread on the bird app. It was about, shocker, the pandemic, getting back to normal, and “reclaiming what we lost”.

I don’t recall why. Maybe it was a Calm meditation. Or a passage in a book I’m reading. A comment in a show. Who knows. But the other day something hit me — I’ve been putting off so many things.
Tuesday December 14, 2021 // Pre-Dawn Hours
Outside of a handful of odd nights, since beginning WFH last March (~20 months ago) I’ve been able to sleep until my body naturally wakes me up at around 6:45-7:00 AM. It’s been glorious. Since I graduated college more than a decade ago, my job + commute has had me waking up in the early part of 5 a.m. hour.

A good friend of mine recently had a baby. He sent me a message with a picture of the little guy a few hours after delivery. I welcomed him to the dad club in my response back to him. A week later I got a message saying, “Where did this week go? Time is meaningless… Coffee is life…”
Monday July 19, 2021 // Well Past Bedtime
I’d like to believe every parent of a toddler has had the same life-fulfilling experience I’ve had over the past 16 months of being at home with my kid all-day, everyday. That’s not reality though. People are begging to get out of the house. Go back to normal. Get back to their old lives. Not this guy though.
